Bishop L. F. Thuston
L. F. Thuston is a rare blend of academic preparation, pastoral passion, recognized scholarship, community connectivity, dedicated churchmanship, and spiritual vitality. After successful pastoral and teaching assignments ranging from Carthage, Missouri, Chicago, Indiana, Bronx, N.Y., Colorado Springs, and Lubbock, TX, he was appointed to the Historic Boone Tabernacle in Kansas City, MO. For the last 13 years, this anchor congregation has blossomed into an anchor urban core renewal parish in the 2 million populated Midwest metropolis has glorified God with the full Gospel message and witness in the Church of God in Christ reformation. Additionally, he shepherds Mason Temple COGIC in Kansas City, KS.
Dr. Thuston has served the COGIC communion in the following national capacities: Dean of the National Youth Department, Dean of the International Adjutant Corp, the National Board of Education, National Election Commission, All Saints Bible College Board Member, Executive Board member and Doctrinal Committee chair for the Board of Bishops, and recently elected vice-chairman of the General Assembly. He has also lectured at The Vatican, The International Wesleyan-Pentecostal Consortium, The African-American Holy Land Scholars Union, and White House Presidential-Clergy Panel, Texas Association of Secondary School Principals, National State Boards of Education.
Pastor Thuston was signally honored March 2004. Upon the recommendation of the jurisdictional pastors, the Presiding Bishop G.E. Patterson appointed Pastor Thuston the Jurisdictional Prelate of the Kansas East Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, with oversight of 62 pastors, parishes and ministries in Kansas and Missouri.
Since 2011, Pastor Thuston has served as the Vice Chairman of the General Assembly of the Church of God In Christ, INC. Pastor Thuston recently released the book “Decently & In Order In The Sanctified Church”.
Married 26 years to Marian, they are parents of a daughter, Melody of Chicago, IL.
